Arcade Publications

Scope and vision

Arcade journals are centers of scholarship based in the digital sphere. Our peer-reviewed journals put the vitality of new publishing technologies into the service of high caliber humanities research. Arcade’s online publishing allows scholars to develop lively new intellectual practices: we foster dynamic reader interaction, innovative formats and multimedia features, and easier publication, distribution and retrieval. And while transforming the journal, we maintain the core qualities of traditional scholarship. All Arcade journals are designed for longevity, rigorously peer-reviewed, and directed by editorial boards of distinguished scholars from across university and disciplinary lines.

Editorial policies

We are committed to the free dissemination of our scholarship: all Arcade journals use the open access system of publishing. Users can access Arcade scholarship immediately upon publication, at no charge, without registration or other restrictions to access. Copyright holders must allow users to copy, use, distribute, transmit, and display the work publicly and to make and distribute derivative works, in any digital medium for any responsible purpose, subject to proper attribution of authorship.

Uniquely, Arcade’s form of digital publication allows our journals to be both dynamic and durable. All Arcade articles are published simultaneously in HTML and PDF format: the HTML format enables ongoing dialogue among readers and authors, while the PDF facilitates downloading and creating hard copies for archiving. Editorial practices for all Arcade journals conform to our house style and management protocols. For more information about Arcade Publications, please contact us at <arcade@stanford.edu>.
