Anna Marie Smith, Professor of Government at Cornell University, is a political theorist, with research interests in the fields of jurisprudence and normative political theory; distributive justice and socioeconomic rights; public policy; education and poverty assistance; feminist theory and feminist legal studies; critical race theory; and the rhetoric of modern state power and citizenship. Her most recent book is Welfare Reform and Sexual Regulation (2007). She held a Mellon New Directions Fellowship at Columbia Law School in 2008–9, and she was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in 2009–10.
