Republics of Letters is now open to submissions

We here on the publications team of Arcade are excited to announce that after eight successfully curated installments, Republics of Letters seeks to include more new voices by accepting submissions. Republics of Letters is a peer-reviewed, digital journal dedicated to the study of knowledge, politics, and the arts, from Antiquity to the present. All articles are freely accessible.

In the past, articles have ranged widely and provocatively, from literature as agent of corruption to renaissance-era automata and early modern consciousness to the rise of crowd psychology in the early 20C. Our most recent forum, published in Nov 2014, dealt with the forms and traditions of the essay, exploring Montaigne, Musil, Borges, and more. In the next two years we expect to see fora on "Cervantes and the European Stage," "Beauty and Form," and "Sport." Take a look around--we invite you to not only contribute to, but also create, timely and stimulating conversations of your choosing.

Articles are organized by issue and forum. We welcome submissions on past forum topics, as well as on other topics relating to the journal's scope. Republics of Letters will also consider proposals for new fora. Please submit articles electronically to republics@stanford.edu.
